We, North Dakota Community Action Partnership, are so proud to be members of the North Dakota Jump$tart Coalition. This is a Coalition whose sole purpose is providing as much financial literacy education as possible. One of the neatest events they offer is a Real World Camp for area young people. The Real World Camps happen in Bismarck, Dickinson, and Fargo!
Our very own Andrea Olson chairs the committee that puts on the Fargo Real World Camp and she has so much fun with the project! The committee consists of representation from credit unions, banks, NDSU Extension, and area non-profits. The Camp focuses on area 5th graders. Through a series of fun and interactive curriculums offered throughout the course of the day the students learn about the importance of budgeting, saving, and making smart choices with their money. Ross Almlie, the owner of Breadvault in West Fargo also talks to the kids about being a part of the Marshmallow Generation. The Camp is held at NDSU which makes it even more exciting because the kids LOVE coming to the home of the Bison! Over 220 5th graders from Fargo, Wahpeton, Kindred, Richland, Mapleton, and Casselton attended!
It was such a wonderful event! Thank you to all the sponsors and volunteers!
